Terms of Service

Last updated and effective: October 5, 2026

The short version

1. Agreement

These terms apply to the Rotty Chrome extension and the website getrotty.vercel.app (together, “Rotty”). By installing or using Rotty, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use Rotty.

Rotty is made by Doplex Labs, a name used by a group of individual contributors. Doplex Labs is not a registered company. “We”, “us” and “Doplex Labs” mean those contributors.

2. Who can use Rotty

You must be at least 13 years old, or older if your country requires it to agree to these terms. If you’re under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you. You must also meet the age and eligibility rules of any AI provider you use with Rotty; some, such as Anthropic’s and Google’s Gemini APIs, require users to be 18 or older.

3. Rotty and its license

Rotty is free. Its source code is published under the MIT License at github.com/DoplexLabs/rotty-open-source. The MIT License governs the code; these terms govern your use of the extension we publish and of this website, and nothing here limits your rights under that license. The license doesn’t give you the right to use the Rotty or Doplex Labs names or logos in a way that suggests your version is ours or endorsed by us.

4. Your AI provider

Except with Rotty Local, Rotty works through an AI provider you choose (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or Groq), using your own API key or your ChatGPT sign-in. That provider is a separate company and is not part of Rotty. When you use one:

Rotty Local runs on your computer and uses its processor, memory and battery.

5. Reddit, X and LinkedIn

Rotty changes how Reddit, X and LinkedIn look in your browser. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Reddit, X, LinkedIn, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or Groq, and their names and logos belong to their owners.

Those sites’ terms still apply to you while you use Rotty. Some restrict browser extensions that change their pages (LinkedIn’s User Agreement, for example), and a site could limit an account it believes breaks its rules. You decide whether to use Rotty on each site, and you can turn it off for any of them. Sites change their layouts often, so Rotty may stop working on a site until we update it.

6. Acceptable use

Use Rotty only for its purpose: tidying your own feed. Don’t use it to break the law, to collect or scrape other people’s data, to break the rules of a site or AI provider or get around their limits, or to harass anyone. Don’t publish a modified version under the Rotty name.

7. Rotty’s judgments

Rotty uses AI to guess which posts are low-effort. It will sometimes hide something useful or miss something you’d want hidden. Its labels and reasons are a model’s opinion about a piece of text, not a statement of fact about any person. Rotty is not a safety, content moderation or fact-checking tool, so don’t rely on it to screen out harmful, illegal or false content. Anything it hides stays one click away.

8. Feedback

If you send us ideas, suggestions or reports, we may use them however we like, without owing you anything.

9. Changes and availability

We may change, suspend or stop Rotty, or any feature or supported provider or site, at any time. We may also update these terms. When we do, we’ll update the date at the top, and for significant changes we’ll give notice on this website or in the extension. If you keep using Rotty after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms.

10. Ending

You can stop using Rotty at any time by uninstalling it. Sections 3, 4 and 7 to 14 continue to apply after you stop.

11. No warranty

Rotty is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don’t promise that Rotty will be accurate, uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or that it will work with any site or AI provider.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Doplex Labs and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, accounts or access, or for charges from an AI provider, arising from or related to Rotty or these terms, even if we were told such damages were possible. Our total liability for all claims related to Rotty is limited to fifty US dollars (US$50).

13. Indemnity

To the extent allowed by law, you agree to defend and hold harmless Doplex Labs and its contributors from claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of Rotty, your breaking these terms, or your breaking the terms of a site or AI provider.
